  • Jacob Grosvenor

    One of the co-funders of Diamond Futsal and coaches.

    Jacobs experiences in futsal comes through playing as a youth to the present day. Jacob has represented Canterbury in a 19 boys team and in the Canterbury Mens National League Team.

    Jacobs coaching experience comes through coaching Shirley boys High at regionals, national tournament and then most recently two years of Canterbury 19 girls teams. He also coaches our junior program and then runs all futsal programs at Selwyn United.

    Jacob involvement in futsar eaches further than just coaching and playing as he works for Mainland Football with the Futsal Development Officer. He role consists of fusal in schools, running of tournaments/leagues and running futsal communcty coaching courses.

  • Daniel Steffert (Co-Owner)

    Daniels futsal journey began when he joined high school where he has represented his school at the NZSS competition. He has also represented his region throughout his time at both youth and men’s level, most recently representing the Canterbury Futsal Dragons in the Super League.

    Daniels love for the game has seen him engage in the coaching aspect of the game as well, coaching St Thomas College of Canterbury at the previous two NZSS Futsal Nationals, both finishing in the top 10.

    As the co owner of Diamond Futsal, Daniel is really excited for the development of futsal within our region and looks forward to working with the next generation of futsal players in our community

  • Mark Zimmerman (Coach)

    Mark's futsal experiences began when he was 13 years old, starting at High School. Since then, he has represented Canterbury in the 16 & 19s boys' teams and is now a part of the Canterbury Men's Super-league team. Recently, Mark has been selected to represent New Zealand in the University World Cup in China.

    Mark has plenty of experience in secondary school futsal, as he has been coaching Shirley Boys High School for the past four years and was fortunate enough to be crowned national champion in 2023 with the Shirley Boys senior team. From there, Mark has been selected to coach the U17s & U19s boys' Canterbury teams, winning the U17s Boys competition in 2022.

    Mark has also been involved with multiple schools across Christchurch, running futsal programs and holiday programs. These include St Andrews College, Middleton Grange, Shirley Intermediate, Bishopdale School, and Our Lady of the Assumption School.

  • James Vallance (Coach)


    James experience in Futsal as a coach spans more than over a decade where he has coached in the national age groups for Canterbury in the un14s un16s and un19s level. Along side this he coached in the schools competition with St Thomas of Canterbury and won the schools national title in 2019.

    Following this he moved on to coach at the tertiary level with Canterbury university where he did the double with them. And to top it all off he currently coaches the men’s futsal dragons for Canterbury where in 2023 he lead them to their first title in 7 years.

    As a player he played for the Canterbury men’s team and was part of two national winning sides in 2014 and 2016.
